The problem with Jalv is that the buffers are too small.  It needs to
implement http://lv2plug.in/ns/ext/resize-port#minimumSize as do the
plugins that need more space.  A hard minimum might be an easy kludge.

This isn't really very related to UI update rate, Jalv is tuned so
there's enough buffering for several audio cycles to go by before the UI
is updated.  It works fine in all my testing.  The buffer is simply too
small with a low Jack period size.
